Research from the Oxford Argumentation in Religion and Science (OARS) project team has informed the recent research review on Religious Education by the Office for Standards in Education in the UK.
The report extensively drew the OARS research paper which reported an analysis on the nature and extent of argumentation in RE curriculum documents in England (Chan, Fancourt and Guilfoyle 2020). The paper is cited in and informed the sections on (a) Curriculum progression and debates about knowledge, (b) the importance of ‘ways of knowing in the RE curriculum, and (c) relating composite assessment tasks to the RE curriculum.
