In this workshop, teachers shared some of the work that they have been undertaking their schools. This sharing of pedagogical strategies and experiences has been fundamental to our work and beneficial for teachers. It can help to generate new ideas and give space to reflect on the success of previous strategies as well as to discuss tweaks for improvement.
This continued as we looked through numerous printed examples of activities and student work from participating teachers’ classrooms and discussed in small groups.
The project team provided some input on the nature of argumentation in Religious Education, drawing on our analysis of RE curriculum documents. We also used this opportunity to consider some critical incidents when facilitating discussions and argumentation activities in the RE context in a collective problem solving manner.
Finally, the teachers and the project team co-planned the content of Workshop 5. We discussed the ongoing needs of teachers and how the next workshop could address these. This plan involved:
